East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to provide more amenities at the stations marked as disabled friendly under its five divisions. Though Railway Board has reiterated railways' commitment to convert railway stations falling under category A1, A and B into disabled-friendly stations, ECR is converting all major stations into disabled friendly ones in the current fiscal year, said ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak.

According to him, special facilities have been provided for the disabled at Patna Junction. These include separate low-height booking counter, parking space, waiting hall and toilets. Access rams have also been provided for the disabled to board trains with ease, he said.

Facilities for the disabled will be improved at each major station under ECR. Keeping in view their requirements, 'May I Help You' booth has been provided on platform no 1 at Patna Junction and other major stations like Gaya, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Barauni, Saharsa, Hajipur and Motihari to render assistance in any emergency, the CPRO said.

ECR is also installing lifts at Patna Junction and other major stations for the convenience of the disabled. Deluxe toilets, under construction at Patna Junction, are also being provided special facility for them, he said.
